Three stages, thousands of visitors, and a lineup that defies genre boundaries – the "Ab geht die Lutzi!" festival in Rottershausen is no longer a hidden gem. In 2024, we at haut[nah] had the pleasure of producing the official festival aftermovie – a project as intense as the festival itself.
In this post, we provide insights into the concept, the technical challenges, and our creative workflow during the festival shoot.
A powerful aftermovie needs more than just beautiful images. It should convey the festival vibe, evoke emotions, and build anticipation for next year. That’s why we developed a custom video concept with the organizers beforehand: What elements define the dieLutzi! experience? Which target audience are we reaching? What story do we want to tell?
The result was a clear roadmap for the shoot – focusing on authentic moments, powerful crowd shots, atmospheric footage of the grounds, and, of course, the highlights on stage.
With three stages running in parallel, it was clear: good timing and teamwork are everything. Our multi-person camera crew was constantly on the move – between the main stage, the tent stage, and the electronic floor. We used multiple camera systems, gimbals, drones, and audio recording equipment to make the live atmosphere tangible.
The biggest challenge? Being in the right place at the right time – without missing a beat. Thanks to close coordination with stage management and flexible crew planning, we were able to capture all the relevant acts and vibes.

The finished video served not only as a keepsake for attendees but also as a key marketing tool: on social media, the festival website, and in promotional campaigns for 2025 ticket presales.
A professionally produced aftermovie boosts reach, conveys emotion, and keeps the festival in the conversation long-term. For independent, passion-driven festivals like dieLutzi!, a strong visual presence is crucial for building community and driving ticket sales.
