A look into the kitchen of Georgia – and behind the camera

Maemani is all about discovering cultural diversity through encounters, workshops, and travel. A core part of this experience is cooking – together, traditionally, and with attention to detail.

For the video production of an explanatory film on Georgian cooking we developed a format with Maemani that shows more than just a recipe: It is about understanding, heritage, and community.

From the cooking pot to the screen – how the production went

Our task was to explain a traditional dish with cinematic clarity – while simultaneously capturing the magic of the moment. We worked with natural light, close-up shots of the preparation steps, aesthetically arranged ingredients, and a narrator’s voice that conveys calm and authenticity.

The result is a video that fits perfectly into the Maemani concept: sustainable, sensory, and educational.

What happens behind the scenes of cooking videos

When it comes to recipe videos, one thing is clear: Content is king – but timing is queen.

Ingredients need to look fresh and appealing, despite the heat from the lights. The camera has to be in the right place at the right time. And the cooking process shouldn't be interrupted by the filming itself.

We use our experience to overcome these hurdles with creative solutions – from pre-production to the final edit.
